showbased business, has established a brick and mortar retail
location at 7352 Forsyth Blvd. in Clayton. Owners Rebecca
Kerman and fiancé Igal Alon have
gathered a diverse and colorful collection of jewelry, gifts and
home decor items, all created by Israeli artists. The word “Mavrik”
means shiny or brilliant in Hebrew.
Finally,
make a note of these upcoming seminars: On Tuesday, Oct. 7, the
Missouri Venture Forum is hosting a half-day
seminar entitled Navigating the Financing Fog: Targeting
and Impressing the Right Sources. Consisting of three
sessions and a panel discussion, the seminar will be held at Washington
University’s Charles F. Knight Center from 7:45 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. The $85 fee includes educational materials, networking,

On
the next day, Oct. 8, the University of Missouri Outreach
and Extension and the Missouri Small Business
Development Center are holding a small business tax workshop
at the St. Louis County Extension Center, 121 S. Meramec, Ste.
1012, in Clayton. The workshop will cover basic IRS tax requirements,
employment taxes, record-keeping and depreciation. The registration
fee is $40 for one or two people, and advance registration is
