The Other Kind of Networking
In a recent national poll of more than 1,400 CIOs commissioned by international technology staffing firm Robert Half Technology, 29 percent of IT executives polled – a clear majority – recommend that those starting a career in information technology should specialize in network management. “A fundamental understanding of network management is also the basis for positions in growing areas such as information systems security, wireless communication, broadband and voice over Internet protocol (VoIP),” says Robert Half Technology executive director Katherine Spencer Lee.

Ladue News Editor Gets Quest Award
You won’t read about it in “Ladue Lips,” but Ladue News editor Dorothy Weiner was recently one of six honorees at the Missouri Press Women, St. Louis Chapter’s annual Virginia Betts White Quest Awards, honoring “communicators whose performances reflect an enduring quest for the highest standards of professional ethics and excellence.” Other honorees included KSDK’s Mike Bush, Bill McClellan of the Post-Dispatch and Martin Duggan, formerly of the Globe Democrat and now host and producer of "Donnybrook" on KETC Channel 9. Congratulations to Dorothy, and all of this year’s award recipients.

Bigwidesky Builds Brands
Marketing production startup Bigwidesky, which uses a collaborative, “e-colony” model to provide creative and production talent for its clients, has recently completed work on two visible branding projects in the St. Louis area. The first is a redesign and rebranding for the River City Professionals networking group, including a new logo and Web design. In addition, Bigwidesky’s entry was chosen to be the new St. Louis Rams 10th anniversary team logo. The first use of the new logo was on the official Rams 2004-5 schedule, which was released April 15
