A
Record Year in Real Estate
The Coldwell Banker Gundaker New Homes Division
set a record for new home sales in 2003 of $522 million, with
more than 2,400 new home sales. Coldwell Banker Gundaker is a
member of the NRT family of companies, a subsidiary of Cendant
Corp. – the nation’s largest real estate
brokerage company. In 2002, NRT posted a real estate industry
record of $149 billion in closed sales volume.
Tops in Design
Two local architectural firms were recently named to Interior
Design magazine’s “Top 100 Giants”
list. Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum (HOK),
with 193 designers on staff, was ranked second in the country,
while The Lawrence Group, with 40 designers, was a new addition
to the list at the 95th spot. Both firms were also included in
top 10 lists by design category, with The Lawrence Group
named among the top 10 in residential design, and HOK garnering
No. 1 spots by design fee overall and in the fastest growth category.
Sell
Your Stuff
A local entrepreneur has launched a new Web site that
offers an alternative to the online auction model for buying and
selling goods. Laura Geraghty’s site www.sellyourstuffstlouis.com
began as a way for her to sell baby items she no longer needed,
and blossomed into a multi-category trading site, with a simple
model. A $5.00 fee allows anyone to post items for sale, while
PayPal handles the secure transactions. No more pesky bidding
wars – sellers simply post a price and wait for a buyer.
The site is still in its infancy, but Geraghty hopes her straightforward
approach will resonate with local buyers and sellers.
Record
Condo Sales
The sales team at The Plaza in Clayton is racking
up some impressive numbers. In addition to closing the top 10
most expensive condominium sales in the Clayton real estate market
for 2003, the Plaza posted the highest reported sale for a single-family
home or condominium in the entire St. Louis metropolitan area
– $4.05 million for a 7,600 sq. ft. condominium. In total,
the Plaza in Clayton sales team closed a record $49 million-plus
in sales for 2003.
