Revise Your Resume
A recent survey by ResumeDoctor.com of more than 160,000 resumes has found that nearly half (49.6%) of all job seekers used at least one or more vague or inexplicit phrases to describe their workplace skills and experience. Top vague phrases include “Communication skills,” “Team player,” “Organizational skills,” “Interpersonal skills” and “Driven.” Chris Shoulet, of Top Dog Recruiting Inc., states that, “ ... these phrases are ‘fluff ’ in a resume.What a hiring manager wants to see is quantitative information. What does this candidate bring to the table? Show, don’t tell what you’ve accomplished.”

Drive Is on the Move
The Drive Agency, a local marketing firm recently featured on the cover of NETWORK, is moving its offices from its current location in Clayton to a historic former firehouse on Allen Avenue in Soulard. “Our continued growth made a bigger space a necessity,” says Drive principal and founder Dan Curran.“Plus,we will be closer to Purina and Anheuser-Busch, two of our main clients.”

Internet in Space
Restaurant Space, at South Kingshighway Boulevard and Daggett Avenue in the Hill Neighborhood, has recently become one of the first fullservice restaurants in St. Louis to offer Wi-Fi Internet access to its patrons. Owner John Rice says,“Because we do a lot of business lunches and meetings, it made sense to make wireless Internet available for our customers.” Space is identified by its unique blue exterior and colorful signage, which can be easily seen from Kingshighway and Highway 44.

New Digs for Electrical Contractor
On June 9, electrical contracting company J.F. Electric Inc. broke ground on its new facility at Lakeview Commerce Park, located on Hwy. 111, a mile north of Interstate 270. Jim Henderson, CFO for J.F. Electric, says, “Madison County and specifically Edwardsville has some of the greatest growth potential in the entire region. Recent developments in Edwardsville and at Southern Illinois University confirm this fact.”
